The Oregon House is scheduled to vote tomorrow on an education budget that will lead to school closures, larger class sizes, and a shorter school year.
The K12 budget is unacceptable, especially when the legislature is considering holding on to more than $440 million that should be used now to invest in Oregon schools and services. For every $100 million more invested, it’s the equivalent of protecting nearly 1,100 educator jobs or avoiding cutting a full week of school for all Oregon students.
Unfortunately, the Oregon Senate passed this inadequate budget in a vote today. Let’s make sure the House doesn’t make the same mistake.
Urge your Representative to vote no on the K12 budget and instead to use every available dollar to protect services that middle-class families depend on.
